Victoria Peak, one of the most famous landmarks in Hong Kong, offers sweeping view of the megapolis of Hong Kong and Kowloon. No other place in Hong Kong would provide you a better view. Drawing around six million visitors every year, the Peak is the perfect location for an outing.
Once you reach atop the peak you would see a seven storey building. It is the Peak Tower. Designed by British architect Terry Farrell, the Peak Tower has a viewing platform on the third floor. Hong Kong skyscrapers, when looked from the Tower, seem protruding out of the earth.
How to reach Victoria Peak? Tourists can take the Peak Tram, a pleasant ride ascending the mountain. The tram has been in operation for over one hundred years, and to date, no accidents have ever occurred. Your journey aboard the tram will take eight minutes and upon reaching the summit you will see a seven storied building in the shape of a ship. This is the Peak Tower in which there are several attractions namely, Madame Tussauds Hong Kong, Ripley's Believe It or Not! Odditorium, and the Peak Explorer Motion Simulator.
The Peak Tram
The venerable Peak Tram is, as most passengers agree, the only way to truly experience the beauty of Hong Kong's natural wonders. Tens of millions of people from every corner of the globe have taken the ride, which affords a uniquely spectacular perspective of the city.
Located at Lower Terminus, The Peak Tram Historical Gallery is a way of paying tribute to The Peak Tram, its heritage and the history of Hong Kong. Since 1888, The Peak Tram has served Hong Kong, quietly witnessing 120 years of the city's changes. The Gallery brings back many memories for local visitors and gives overseas visitors a glimpse of how the Pearl of the Orient has come to shine.
If you have never seen the view, it is worth the wait. Like many other attractions, it is best to go early to avoid the longer lines. Be sure to plan your visit on a day with at least mostly clear skies if you can. If there is a sunny day with clear sky's, every photographer will be there for that famous picture of the harbor.
